Strange to think of buying a cat his own ipad. All I could think about was litter boxes paws and claws touching my screen. I'd seriously consider declawing the family pet to use the technology.

But interestingly, I wonder if training pets to use ipads to communicate with pet owners would be possible. Though it could get extremely annoying to get updates from the family pet throughout the day. I don't know if it would be healthy, but separation anxiety might be eased with the technology.

The universe is a chaotic place. Nothing is 100% certain (well, except death and taxes). Just imagine the lucrative lawsuits against these companies should anything go wrong.

I'm pretty sure law enforcement can get into your Facebook account and see your old wall posts, pictures, and I think even messages. Something else I've been noticing is more and more news sites are requiring a Facebook account to post comments. This could be problematic for anybody with a government job who espouses a counterculture opinion. Nothing is private on the web. Never post anything you wouldn't want your mother to see. Or big brother for that matter.

The furor surrounding Foxconn is an interesting one. Like you said, its a labyrinth of issues. I first heard about it on NPR with Mike Daisy discussing his show "The Agony and Ecstasy of Steve Jobs". From there, I went on to look up a little more on the topic.

One of the big things that you cited, the rash of suicides, isn't that uncommon. Or at least, isn't unique to the Foxconn factory, compared to the other factory complex/cities in Shenzhen.

I think the larger and more important issue is what you mentioned in your last paragraph. If the younger generation is demanding more rights and better wages than their parents, what's going to happen to American companies' production scheme?

Some analysts compare what's happening in China to America's Industrial Revolution, but with more advanced technology. They think China will eventually follow with child labor laws and unions negotiating for workers' rights, similar to the Industrial Revolution in the West. But they will do it faster, having an example to follow.

It's going to be an interesting decade if nothing else...
